Joining the Thistle
Who can join. Membership is open in four categories – Junior, Ordinary, Life and Honorary. Every member, and every applicant, must also be a member of The St Andrews Golf Club, The New Golf Club of St Andrews or The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. No member may designate the Thistle as their Home Club, so the club has no "Home" members. There are no separate competitions for Junior members, who play under the same conditions as Ordinary members.
What it costs. The annual subscription is £48.00, due by 31 March for the membership year that runs from 1 March to the last day of February. New members also pay a one-off joining fee of £72.00, so the first year costs £120.00 in total. The subscription must be paid before entering any medal or match-play competition.

Your application needs a proposer and a seconder. Both must have been members of the Thistle for at least two years and have known you for at least two years. A member may propose or second no more than two applicants in any one membership year (1 March to the last day of February).
Paying your subscription
The preferred way to pay your annual subscription is online, through the HowDoiPay portal (payments are handled by ClearAccept, provided through our club software supplier Club Systems). In exceptional circumstances you may pay the Treasurer in cash.
You have the right to cancel your membership within 7 days of making a payment. To cancel, email the Secretary at thistle.secretary@gmail.com and your payment will be refunded in full.
